A Baton Rouge man is in custody after reportedly confessing to the killing of his girlfriend and her 2-year-old son, according to WBRZ.
Brynnen Murphy, 20, reportedly told investigators from the Baton Rouge Police Department where to find the bodies of Kaylen Johnson, 24, and her son Kaden. Both bodies have been recovered.
WBRZ reported that Murphy confessed to killing Kaylen by gunshot in his apartment complex’s parking lot in front of her son, who was in her car, then allegedly used the car with Kaden still inside to discard the weapon and Kaylen’s body in the same area on Burbank Drive.
Then Murphy drove to Central Thruway and tossed 2-year-old Kaden over the bridge while he was still alive.
Murphy could allegedly hear Kaden crying while driving away. He then abandoned the vehicle.
Kaylen, who was six months pregnant, and her son were reported missing by their family this past weekend after they hadn’t been seen or heard from since March 5.
“She told her friend that she had just made it home. She wanted to take a bath and get something to eat, and that was the last time anybody heard from her,” Kaylen’s mother April Johnson told WBRZ.
Murphy has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and faces life in prison.
