A man at the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center died this morning from as of yet undetermined causes. St. Tammany Parish Sheriffs described the prisoner's death as due to an “unknown medical condition”.
Prison officials report responding to calls for medical assistance around 2:40 AM this morning related to an inmate. The inmate was transported to an area hospital around 3:00 AM, treated by hospital staff, and pronounced dead around 4:00 AM.
The death is currently under investigation and an autopsy of the man will be performed by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner.
