Man shot in N.O. East, NOPD investigates

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a New Orleans East shooting that injured a man Tuesday evening.

Around 7:20 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to a shooting in the 4300 block of Dodt Avenue just off Chef Menteur Avenue.


When officers arrived they discovered an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

“Investigators are in the process of gathering information that will help them identify a person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is available at this time,” says police in a report.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
