A man is dead after he was struck by a delivery truck while attempting to cross a busy intersection in the Central Business District.
The New Orleans Police Department reports the fatal traffic incident happened Thursday just before 7:40 pm at the intersection of Loyola Avenue and Earhart Boulevard.
“Upon arrival and investigation, detectives determined that an adult male was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Earhart Boulevard on foot when a delivery truck traveling westbound struck the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital but was declared deceased en route. The driver of the delivery truck remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation,” said the NOPD report.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim and determine official cause of death once an autopsy and notification of family is complete.
