Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto says his office arrested Marian Williams, 26, of Marrero, in reference to one count of Second Degree Murder.

She is accused of murdering a woman on January 6 after her body was found by responding deputies. They discovered her body inside a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Mt. Kennedy Blvd. in Marrero.

Williams was arrested after turning herself into detectives after being informed of a warrant for her arrest.

According to a JPSO report, Williams initially told investigators, the victim had been sleeping inside the vehicle with Williams.

Williams attempted to wake her and was unable to do so, and call authorities for help.  The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The victim was then brought to the Jefferson Parish Forensic Center for autopsy.

Investigators say on Friday, a post-mortem examination was conducted. Based on evidence collected during the autopsy, including injuries to the victim's neck, the victim's death was ruled a homicide. As the investigation continued, an arrest warrant was obtained for Williams.
