New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says code enforcement is considering consequences after a large group of people gathered at the amphitheater on Decatur Street in the French Quarter. Most were not covering their mouths and noses.
"The City is aware of an unmasked gathering that violated public health guidelines," Cantrell said on Facebook. "Code enforcement is working to determine next steps."
The event featured popular recording artist Lauren Daigle.
The mayor says event organizers were made aware of guidelines beforehand.
In here post, Cantrell added, "Covid infections are breaking records nationally. New Orleans has crushed the curve twice. We will not go back."
She is urging attendees at this event and other gatherings to get tested for COVID-19.

"Anyone who has recently been to a gathering where people were unmasked and not observing social distancing guidelines should get tested. The virus is very contagious," according to the mayor. "Also, anyone who has tested positive should isolate themselves immediately and contact their doctors."
