N.O. murder suspect arrested in St. Tammany after high-speed police chase

A man wanted by New Orleans Police on murder charges was arrested early Thursday morning after a high-speed pursuit that ended in St. Tammany Parish.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says deputies were notified that deputies from Hancock County Mississippi were in pursuit of a stolen beige 2006 Toyota Highlander on Interstate 10 Westbound.


STPSO deputies joined the pursuit at the state line as the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed on I-10 towards New Orleans says an STPSO report.

St. Tammany deputies deployed spikes and the vehicle came to a stop on I-10 Westbound just past the Oak Harbor Boulevard exit.

The driver, Alphonse Dorsey, 26, of New Orleans was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on several charges including illegal possession of a gun, drugs, and aggravated flight from an officer.

Dorsey was additionally booked as a fugitive from NOPD on warrants for homicide and two counts of Domestic Abuse Battery and one count of Domestic Abuse Battery Child Endangerment. Additional charges are pending from Hancock County. He will be expedited to NOPD to face charges in New Orleans.

A female passenger was also arrested following the police chase.

Valicia Johnson, 25, of New Orleans was arrested and booked with possession of stolen things, and drug possession after deputies discovered Johnson concealed a small amount of marijuana in her sock and another small bag of cocaine in her vaginal cavity.
