Someone’s holiday season just got a little brighter.
A $1.85 million Louisiana Lottery jackpot won back in August was finally claimed this week.
The prize was claimed at the lottery’s Baton Rouge headquarters on December 12. The winning ticket was purchased at a New Orleans Winn Dixie.
The winner’s name is Lara Tate of Plaquemines Parish. Her winning numbers from the August 30 drawing were 08-09-11-14-32-41.
Tate claimed a $1,327.375 prize after state and federal taxes were taken out. The Winn Dixie location that sold the ticket also got 1% of the winnings, a bonus worth $18,500.
“Since its inception in 1991, the Louisiana Lottery has fulfilled its mission of maximizing revenue for the state of Louisiana while upholding the highest standards of integrity and public trust,” the Louisiana Lottery said in a release. “To date, it has transferred more than $4.6 billion to the state for K-12 public education.”
