New Orleans firefighters say a man's daring may have saved his life. That woman, firefighters say, leapt out of a second-story window to escape a two-alarm house fire.
It happened around noon on Wednesday at a home on Milan Street near South Johnson.
Firefighters say when they arrived, a neighbor told them about the man jumping out of the window to escape the burning home. According to investigators, the man was taken to a hospital for injuries to his feet.
The man's parents, who own the home, say their son alerted them to the fire, saying that a space heater he was using ignited the blaze. That allowed the parents to get out of the house without injury.
Firefighters say they will conduct a formal investigation into the matter.
