Two men are now in custody for a shooting death that happened at a party on Louisiana Ave. last month.
Police booked 24-year-old Joseph Washington on a count of second degree murder, and 23-year-old Cameron Thomas on one count of accessory after the fact, for the June 28 murder of 20-year-old Shawn Mitchell.
According to police, about 20 people were at a party in the 2200 block of Louisiana Ave. when shots came from a side alley of a business near there. The gunfire sent people fleeing to the rear of the building.
Police say detectives determined that Washington and Thomas were their suspects, and located them Thursday morning. NOPD arrested the suspects with the help of U.S. Marshals and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Police arrested Thomas in the 7800 block of Dorsett Drive in the Little Woods area of New Orleans East.
Authorities took Washington into custody in the 4000 block of South Dells Street in Harvey's Woodmere subdivision.
