A New Orleans Police officer faces charges of prostitution along with malfeasance in office and tampering with public records, New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick announced Wednesday.
The chief says Louisiana State Police arrested Officer Terrance "TJ" Johnson.
According to LSP, Johnson, 56, paid woman for sexual liaisons while he was on duty in the French Quarter.
According to WWL-TV, investigators were tipped to Johnson's activities when his contact information was found in the phone of Danette Colbert. Colbert is accused of drugging and killing a Kansas City reporter who was in town covering Super Bowl LIX.
Johnson surrendered himself to authorities Wednesday morning.
"Upon learning of the arrest, I directed that we expedite the administrative process to ensure this action is finalized without delay. The NOPD’s Public Integrity Bureau is conducting a full and thorough investigation into this matter," Kirkpatrick said.
"Let me be clear—there is no place in this department for conduct that violates the law or the public trust. We will act swiftly and decisively when an officer’s actions compromise the integrity of the badge and the community we serve," the chief concluded.
