New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno today said she's told the fire department to bring in any state or federal resources at their disposal to find whoever set fire to eight cars and a building in the Bywater.
Several cars and an occupied two-story residence were set ablaze early Monday, on Desire, Montegut, and Dauphine streets.
"I have directed NOFD Superintendent Roman Nelson to work with extreme urgency to identify and work with law enforcement to apprehend whoever is responsible," Moreno said Monday afternoon. "I have also directed him to call in any needed additional resources from federal and state partners to ensure swift justice."
The mayor said she will not allow anyone to terrorize New Orleans' neighborhoods "or cause this level of destruction and fear."
"We will find who is responsible and hold them accountable to the full extent of the law. It is a blessing and I am grateful that no one was injured or killed by the fires," she said.
