A violent weekend in New Orleans continues with four more shootings, two carjackings, and a stabbing.
The first shooting happened around 10 a. m. Saturday near the intersection of Leon C. Simon Boulevard and Press Avenue. Police say a man was shot multiple times and taken to the hospital.
About an hour-and-a-half later, the NOPD responded to a hospital after getting a call about a victim suffering a gunshot wound. Police say the victim was shot in the leg and was taken to the hospital in a private car. Investigators say the victim refused to tell them where the shooting happened.
The third shooting happened around 2 a.m. Sunday at the corner of Paris Avenue and Kildeer Street. According to an NOPD spokesperson, that shooting happened during an armed robbery. A man was shot during that incident and was taken to the hospital.
The last shooting happened around 8:15 a.m. Sunday on Palms Street near Cambronne Street in Gert Town. Police say a man was shot multiple times and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Police say no other details about either shooting are available.
At least 11 people have been shot in New Orleans since Friday night.
The stabbing happened around 4:15 a.m. Sunday on Magnolia Street near Felicity Street. Police say the suspect hit the victim in the back of the head when the victim refused to leave with the suspect. The victim then fell to the ground. Responding officers later discovered that the victim, who they say is legally blind, had also suffered a stab wound.
The first carjacking happened around 11:15 a.m. Saturday on Royal Street near Governor Nicholls Street. Police say the suspect got into a car and demanded a passenger get out. The victim refused and the suspect left on a bicycle.
The other happened around 3 a.m. Sunday on Camp Street near Common Street. Police say the victim was at a red light when three armed suspects forced him out of his car. The suspect drove off in the victims white 2012 Toyota Camry.
