NOPD disperses crowd on Royal St.

Mardi Gras
NEW ORLEANS, LA - FEBRUARY 16: An NOPD officer stands on an empty Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras on February 16, 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Traditional Mardi Gras celebrations have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including the cancelling of all carnival parades and the closing of all bars in the French Quarter until Wednesday. With Bourbon Street closed off to Mardi Gras revelers, it seems some tried to hang out one bloc over on Royal Street. The gathering got the attention of the New Orleans Police department.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell warned residents last week that crowds of people would not be acceptable, and the NOPD said it would take action to break up crowds if necessary.
