A violent night in New Orleans continued a Christmas weekend filled with shootings.
The latest shooting was the city's second homicide in the last three days.
According to a New Orleans Police Department spokesperson, a Mid-City shooting left a man dead. It happened around 10 p.m. Monday near the corner of Canal Street and South Carrollton Avenue. An EMS crew took the victim to the hospital, where he later died. Police are still trying to develop a suspect and a motive.
That shooting was the third shooting in New Orleans on Christmas Day. A child was wounded in a New Orleans East shooting around 8 p.m. Monday, while a man was wounded in a Gentilly shooting around 9 p.m.
None of these shootings appear to be related.
Between Saturday and Monday, the NOPD worked at least 10 shootings, two of which were deadly.
