A group of juvenile car break-in suspects flipped their getaway car, leading to a fire on the edge of St. Roch and the Upper Ninth Ward.
According to NOPD spokesperson Reese Harper, the suspects were seen burglarizing vehicles around 7:30 p.m. Monday on Almonaster Avenue near North Prieur and Franklin Avenue.
Harper says after the suspects noticed that they had been spotted by the victim’s son, they sped off in a getaway car. The suspects, Harper says, flipped the car and crashed it into a “fixed object,” causing the fire to catch fire. Firefighters and police responded, but the suspects had run away by the time they arrived on scene.
No one was injured in the crash.
