New Orleans Police say a standoff with a suspect is not at the Walmart.
An initial alert from NOPD said the SWAT team was attempting to arrest an individual in the 1900 block Tchoupitoulas Street.
The Walmart and the NOPD Traffic Division are the only buildings in that block.
The Public Information Office later corrected the address to the 1900 block of Annunciation Street, a couple of blocks from the Wal Mart.
"Initial reports show that a wanted suspect barricaded himself inside of the location," according to an NOPD email. "Please avoid this area until further notice."
The initial call came in at 10:30am.
