Mardi Gras Indians celebrate Super Sunday today, and the NOPD wants it to be a safe event.
"The New Orleans Police Department is reminding residents and visitors to celebrate safely during... Mardi Gras Indian Super Sunday events," Officer Reese Harper said in a post.
Cops say they are anticipating large crowds and neighborhood gatherings.
"NOPD has released a public safety graphic highlighting key traffic restrictions and safety reminders for the area."
Harper says restriction run from 5:00am today through 6:00pm this evening.
The department highlights the following:
-Leave firearms at home and do not bring weapons to the event
-Follow officer instructions and posted signage
-Report suspicious activity to nearby officers or call 911
-The graphic advisory has been posted across NOPD social media platforms to ensure residents are aware of the traffic restrictions and safety expectations ahead of the celebration.
No parking zones:
LaSalle Street (both sides) from Sixth Street to Second Street
Third Street from LaSalle Street to Feret Street
Fourth Street from South Liberty Street to LaSalle Street
Washington Avenue (both sides) from South Liberty Street to Magnolia Street
Feret Street from Peete Street to Third Street
Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and avoid parking in the designated areas to allow for safe pedestrian movement, emergency access, and parade activity.
