NOPD with U.S. Marshals arrest a man in Conti St. murder investigation

New Orleans Police and U.S. Marshals announced they have arrested James D. Patton, 39, in the investigation of a homicide on January 9, in the 900 block of Conti Street.

“At around 10:27 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on scene,” said an NOPD report.


As the investigation into the incident progressed, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives identified Patton as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder.

NOPD’s VOWS unit and the U.S. Marshals located and apprehended Patton today in the 2600 block of Cleveland Avenue without incident. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
