New Orleans Police now say they are NOT looking for the driver that caused a deadly crash.

After initially reporting it was a hit and run that left a 16-year-old girl dead and two other teens in the hospital, investigators now say that was not the case.

At first cops informed us, "The NOPD is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in the 4700 block of Eastview Drive."

Now they say, "A vehicle had lost control for unknown reasons and struck a tree. No other vehicles were involved."

A news release offered information about the victims.

"The vehicle was occupied by three individuals: an 18-year-old Black male driver, a 15-year-old Black male, and a 16-year-old Black female... The 16-year-old female juvenile was later pronounced deceased. The 18-year-old driver remains in critical condition, while the 15-year-old male juvenile is listed in stable condition."

It was not initially clear why the information was inaccurate.
