New Orleans police are investigating two separate shootings in the Tremé that happened about 30 minutes and two blocks apart, one of which left a man dead.
The first happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday on Esplanade Avenue at North Derbigny Street. An NOPD spokesperson said when officers arrived, they found the victim inside a crashed car. The victim, identified as a 32-year-old man, had been shot multiple times. The spokesperson said an EMS crew brought the victim to a hospital, where he later died.
The second shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on Kerlerec Street at North Claiborne Avenue. An NOPD spokesperson says two men were shot in that incident. One of them went to the hospital via a private vehicle. The second victim is still at the scene awaiting an EMS crew’s arrival. The NOPD spokesman did not provide a condition for either victim.
