New Orleans Police say a man found dead inside an SUV in the Bywater late this morning was attacked blocks away in the Lower Ninth Ward.
Shortly before 11 a.m., the victim was found unresponsive in the vehicle on Poland Ave. at the foot of the Claiborne Ave. bridge. While at first police said the man had wounds of unknown type, they later determined them to be multiple stab wounds.
Police say their investigation determined the incident happened in the 5400 block of N. Villere Street, about nine blocks from the other side of the Industrial Canal.
The investigation “remains active and ongoing,” according to police.
