A Friday afternoon crash in Laplace has claimed the life of a Ponchatoula man.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. on Airline Highway near Windsor Street.
According to Louisiana State Police, Thomas Mixon was trying to change lanes to pass another car when he struck another pickup truck in the adjacent lane. The impact then sent Mixon's truck into the car he was trying to pass. That collision then sent Mixon's truck across the center line and into a third oncoming pickup truck.
Mixon, 55, died at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the third pickup truck suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the other pickup truck and of the car Mixon was trying pass were uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation.
