A 16-year-old boy is in jail after Ponchatoula police say he threatened two of his female schoolmates.

According to Ponchatoula Police Chief Bray Layrrison, the teen contacted the victims through social media and by phone to "(make) threats of harmful violence" against them, telling them that he would attack them at school. The teen is accused of telling the girls that they "would not make it past the first day."

Layrrison says his officers arrested the 16-year-old after viewing the social media posts.

Police booked the suspect into the Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
