Kenner's Esplanade Mall could be in for some changes.
According to a report in NOLA.com, an Illinois-based real estate investment group has agreed to purchase the property on West Esplanade.
Plans call for converting the indoor mall into a mixed-use "open air lifestyle center," with retail, residential, and recreational spaces.
The two story mall was a major retail center for shopper in the 1990s, with a Macy's anchoring one end of the store. As the retail landscape began to change in the 21st century, Esplanade Mall began to fall victim to the same forces that have shuttered malls across the country.
The report says a deal for the purchase could be finalized by next month.
