After months of starts and stops, new life is getting breathed into the once mighty Avondale Shipyards.

A new logistics terminal is starting to rise from the left-behind site on the Mississippi.

T. Parker Host and Hilco Redevelopment Partners have worked to rehabilitate and renovate the site.

The Host Company has rebuilt more than 3000-feet of dock, which allows truck traffic to move along the river for loading and unloading.

The site is where specialty loads from bulk sugar to windmill propellers are off loaded from ships on to alternative forms of transportation across water, land, and rail.

T. Parker Host Chairman and CEO Adam Anderson has big plans for the former shipbuilding site.

According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate Anderson envisions a site where materials are brought in and transformed, built up, and then shipped out as finished items to customers.

Avondale is just one of a number of projects in Louisiana for T. Parker Host.

They have another site in Plaquemines Parish and another upriver in Port Allen.

Due to the growing activity of Avondale site and other projects, many of T. Parker Host’s top executives are relocating to New Orleans to be close to the activity.
