The runaway terrier who has been a social media sensation after twice escaping from his foster family has been rescued again.
According to Zeus' Rescues, trappers caught Scrim this morning and turned him over to the group, which works to eradicate pet homelessness and euthanasia. The three-year-old, 17-pound stray was then taken to a veterinarian for a check-up.
"WE GOT HIM!!!" Zeus' Rescues posted on Facebook. "Much love to Trap DAT Cat!!! More details to come when I can breathe!!!"
According to our partners at NOLA.com, Scrim wandered into a humane trap designed for cats. The trap, provided by Trap Dat Cat, captured Scrim on Lopez Street in Mid City.
Cheramie said she learned around 7 a.m. Tuesday that Scrim, the Moby Dick to her Ahab, had been caught.
The escape-artist mutt was checked out at Metairie Small Animal Hospital and escorted back to Cheramie's Uptown home.
Scrim made his first escape on April 29, 2024, nearly six months after he was pulled into the Zeus' Rescues program. He was initially caught on October 23, but on November 14, Scrim jumped from the second-story window of his foster family's home and ran away. Scrim sightings became a viral phenomenon on local social media pages.
Scrim's time on the outside included surviving Hurricane Francine in September, dealing with New Year's Ever fireworks, and the foot of snowfall that beset the New Orleans area last month.
Scrim's journeys took him across Mid City, Uptown, the Warehouse District, and Old Metairie.
This time, all windows and other possible exits on all floors of the house will be secured, said Cheramie.
