The Saints take the field against Chicago Sunday with oddsmakers solidly in their corner.
“The sports books opened the Saints at eight-or-nine point favorites,” Says Scott Cooley with coolmediapr.com: “Currently the spread has gone to minus 10 and even bumped up as high as minus 10-and-a-half and even as high as eleven.”
It seems the Chicago Bears just don’t have a lot of support when it comes to oddsmakers and handicappers.
“Despite what's going on with Kamara and the uncertainty there, the betting public, they trust the Saints, they know what they’re getting in Drew Brees and Sean Payton,” Cooley states. “And, they just don’t trust the Bears at this point.”
It’s clear the performance of the Saints in last week’s dominating win over—without running backs and facing former Saints backup QB Teddy Bridgewater—is a big confidence builder for bettors.
“Look at last week and then take a look at what the Bears did and how they have kind of been sputtering along all year. There’s really nobody.”
Cooley even exclaims: “We’re really having a lot of trouble attracting money on the Bears at this point!”
Cooley, like many odds makers and bettors, believe the Saints are bound for the big dance this year:
“I think they’ve got great chances to get out of the NFC and represent the conference in the Super Bowl,” Cooley confidently predicts. “For my money I think the Saints are the best team in the NFC at this point. Right now they’re NFC Championship odds they have about five-to-two, or plus 250 odds to make it to the Super Bowl.”
Sunday’s game kicks off at 3:40pm at the Superdome.
