The rising costs of insurance may be the number one issue for Louisiana voters, but the state senate's leader says it is best to wait until the regular session begins in March, instead of holding a special session before then.
"Just insurance in general is confusing on a good day," said Louisiana Senate President Cameron Henry.
Henry said that is why he thinks the longer, regular session, even if there are a lot more bills to consider, is better than the pressure cooker of a shorter special session.
"We want to make sure that the laws, changes and modifications, actually make a difference," said Henry.
Henry says it will also take time for any reform measures they pass to take effect, so there shouldn't be a rush, anyway.
"Very few will make a difference immediately," said Henry. "Very few will have an immediate impact."
The regular session convenes March 11, and must adjourn June by 3.
