A New Orleans Saints star says shots were fired outside of a charity event he hosted Monday night at a French Quarter business.

According to comments he posted on Twitter, Saints defensive end Cam Jordan said shots rang out while he was hosting his annual God Iz Love Foundation Christmas sneaker giveaway at Sneaker Politics on Chartres between Iberville and Bienville Streets. Children from the Youth Empowerment Project were at that event to pick out shoes for their Christmas presents.

"Didn know how to feel about it… greeeat event Las night,30 + kids at my event last night gifting them sneakers… reinforcing positivity and having a great time… ignorance and stupidity struck when some argument  outside of Politics elevated to extremes and gunshots went off," Jordan tweeted. "No kids or staff or anybody in politics were injured. I don’t think any of the bullets struck any person next door . Thankful none of my ppl were affected. But rattled for sure still sad these kids were in this situation. God bless take care ya ppl."

In another series of tweets, Jordan credited store personnel and New Orleans Saints officials for maintaining control at the event and ensuring no one there was injured.

"I’m just glad nobody was hurt from my event at politics and shout out to @Saints @Sneakerpolitics and YEP staff for being orderly and keeping calm in a not so calm situation, being under control and being able to finish the event somehow God is good no one was hurt," Jordan wrote.

The New Orleans Police Department has not yet provided any information about the shooting. We have emailed the NOPD's public information office to obtain more details.

A fourth tweet summed up Jordan's emotions.

"Bruh only in New Orleans… be safe and be careful," Jordan said.
