NOPD says there were three separate shootings on Canal Street Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
"According to investigators, Eighth District officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Canal Street shortly before 2:30 am this morning," Sgt. Barry Fletcher said in an email.
He says when cops arrived, they found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds on Canal Street between Royal and Bourbon Streets.
"New Orleans EMS is transporting the victims to hospital."
This came just hours after two other people were shot a few blocks away on Canal Street as crowds of Bayou Classic fans were gathering after the annual football game between Southern and Grambling in the Superdome.
