An autopsy is pending for a woman who died while in custody in the Slidell City Jail.
According to a Slidell Police Department spokesperson, the inmate, Theresa Zar, 25, was found unresponsive in her cell Wednesday morning. Officer tried to revive Zar, but their attempts were futile. Zar, who was being held on simple battery and failure to appear charges, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Slidell police say there are no immediate signs of foul play.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office and the Slidell Police Department are investigating Zar's death.
