
Mardi Gras may be over but the parades continue to roll in the New Orleans area this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
St. Patrick’s Day in New Orleans means parades with float riders throwing cabbages and other foods along with traditional beads and parade throws. It also means block parties with thousands of revelers celebrating with green beer.
Here is what to know about all of the St. Patrick’s Day events this weekend.
Saturday, March 12
Parasol's Block Party Celebration
10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Located at 3rd and Constance Streets 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Music, green beer, food, and surprises.
The block parties start on the day of the Irish Channel Parade. The fun runs from 10 am to 8 pm, both days.
Irish Channel Parade
1:00 p.m.
The Irish Channel Parade starts on Napoleon Avenue and Tchoupitoulas Street at 1:30 p.m. The parade marches from Magazine St. to Jackson Ave., to St. Charles Ave., to Louisiana Ave., to Magazine St., and ends after turning river bound on Jackson Ave. Click here to see the full route.
Tracy's Block Party
11 a.m. until the last person
The annual celebration will be throughout the Irish Channel but one place stands out – the block party at Tracey’s Bar located at 2604 Magazine Street.
There will be lots of green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and fun. The party continues the celebrations after the Irish Channel Parade.
Sunday, March 13
St. Patrick's Day Parade on Metairie Road
12 Noon
The annual Metairie Road St. Patrick's Day parade will take place at noon in front of Rummel High School on Severn Avenue, goes down Severn to Metairie Road, then Metairie Road to the parish line.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Slidell
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
