A Bayou St. John resident called police after finding an SUV submerged in the water; now the New Orleans Police Department is investigating what led to the crash.
They believe the fatal crash happened Sunday morning at the intersection of Wisner and Filmore Avenue that left one man dead.
“At about 6:34 a.m., a resident in the area discovered a black Infinity SUV submerged in Bayou St. John. Once the NOPD dive team removed the vehicle from Bayou St. John, officers discovered a 27-year-old male in the backseat of the SUV. Shortly after, Emergency Medical Services arrived and declared the man deceased on the scene,” says an NOPD report.
The investigation is ongoing. The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
