Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputies say they've arrested a thief who hit several homes in the same area on the same day and an accomplice who helped him store the ill-gotten goods.
Ronnie Cummings is accused of stealing an ATV from a home on North Hoover Road and a trail camera from a home on South Thibodeaux Road during a nine-hour span last Tuesday. Deputies say the trail camera continued to live stream while Cummings was driving away. The owner phoned the sheriff's office and gave deputies a vehicle description that allowed them to find Cummings while he was driving a pickup truck near Ponchatoula.
The owner of that truck came to the scene to report it stolen. Deputies say the truck's owner told them Cummings borrowed it but refused to return it.
Investigators say they found the stolen ATV later in the day because Cummings tried to sell it online.
Cummings is facing felony theft, motor vehicle theft, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charges.
His passenger, Jerry Hedgepeth, is facing illegal possession of stolen items charges. According to investigators, Hedgepeth kept some of the items stolen from the South Thibodeaux Road location on his own property nearby.
