The body found in a vehicle in Covington was heavy decomposed says coroner

The body found in a vehicle by patrolling Covington Police was heavily decomposed according to the St Tammany Parish Coroner's Office.

Police say on Tuesday, officers patrolling the Covington Recreation Department, in the 4001 block of De Porres Road discovered a vehicle with a deceased subject inside.

The coroner’s office performed an autopsy on Monday and determined the unidentified victim was killed by a single gunshot wound.

“The Covington Police Department is still awaiting the official confirmation of the identity of the victim by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, through dental records, due to the stage of decomposition of the body,” says the Covington Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing.
