The New Orleans Chamber of Commerce is set to have its annual meeting. The focus of which will be driving New Orleans forward in 2024.

The meeting will feature panelists who will speak to economic growth across the city. Including updates from Troy Henry on the Bayou Phoenix development in New Orleans East and Louis Lauricella who is partnered in the greenlit River District development.

New Orleans Chamber of Commerce CEO Sandra Lindquist spoke with Newell Normand about the impact of the Chamber and how vital it is to the quality of life in New Orleans.

“We do the community development. We need to make sure that the quality of life in New Orleans is good.”

CEO Lindquist says that though New Orleans faces some tough challenges they aren't insurmountable.

“What we need to do is see how we can fix these challenges we have and usually that means working together.”

The annual meeting offers members a chance to choose new leadership but also reflect on what worked in the past year.

Lindquist reflected on the chamber members calling for a shift in the role the chamber plays in the community.

“We listened to our members who were vocal about having a stronger role in advocacy.”

And the chamber hit the ground running with the initiative actually resulting in legislation from their influence.

“For the first time, we put our rubber stamp on the Early Childhood bill that past last year.”
