Early voting in New Orleans kicks off this weekend, and election officials are reminding voters to be aware of recent changes.
Orleans Parish Registrar of Voters Lisa Bridges says about 5,000 residents are affected by redistricting since the last election, approved by the City Council after the 2020 census. The changes primarily impact council districts A, B, C, and D.

“The New Orleans City Council had to approve new maps based on the 2020 census, and some things have changed. In particular, districts A through D are where voters may see differences.”
She advises voters to confirm their information before heading to the polls.
“It’s important for everyone to check their registration status, district changes, and polling locations, because those are subject to change as well,” Bridges said.
She also recommends reviewing a sample ballot ahead of time, especially if your district has shifted.
“Looking at a sample ballot is a good idea. If your district has changed, you’ll want to see the candidates for district seats and any district-specific issues that will be on your ballot,” she said.
