Today, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival celebrates New Orleanians with ‘Locals Day’ and some special offers for Louisiana residents.
Today only, tickets at the gate are only $50 for anyone showing a Louisiana State ID instead of the regular ticket price of $90.
Luke Combs is the big country music star headliner among other local acts including Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers, and the New Orleans Suspects.
Nola.com culture writer Keith Spera explained to WWL’s Tommy Tucker what makes today so unique for locals.
“Well, it is Country Day, it is Luke Combs playing down there. Luke sold out the Smoothie King Center this past fall and he is playing some stadiums this year if that gives you any indication of how popular the guy is,” said Spera.
Spera says there will also be a great tribute to legendary New Orleans songwriter Dave Bartholomew.
“The Dirty Dozen is going to be playing a bunch of his songs with help from Elvis Costello and Al "Lil Fats" Jackson. So it will be a pretty neat, I think, meeting of some local folks and Elvis Costello out there today,” said Spera.
