The tourism business continues its comeback in New Orleans. The revenue stream for the Superdome tells the tale.
"Hotel taxes continue to outperform our budget," said Doug Thornton, vice president for ASM Global, the company that manages the Superdome and Smoothie King Center.
"Our budget forecast was built around 75 percent of the 2019 amounts, that's what we were projecting," said Thornton. "The last three months, we've actually averaged about 85 percent of the 2019 totals."
Thornton says it appears all of 2021 will be around 80 to 82 percent of what was collected in 2019.
