New Orleans Police investigators say there were two carjackings in about six hours in the Desire neighborhood.

In both cases, the victims thought they were picking up passengers.

The first one happened Friday night just after 11:00pm near the corner of Abundance Street and Edith Weston Place.

"One of the suspects called the victim to the location. Upon arrival the suspect came out and greeted the victim and got him to exit the vehicle under the assumption he was helping him load luggage into the vehicle," according to an initial police report.

Cops say that's when two more men walked up and robbed the driver.

"The other 2 suspects then approached the victim armed with guns and forced the victim to empty his pockets which contained $500. The victim complied and all 3 suspects jumped into the victim's 2018 black Volkswagen Passat... and fled the location."

Shortly after 5:00am, and about a block away, it happened again.

"The Uber driver was called to the location and was flagged down by one of suspects. The suspect asked the victim to help him put his bags in the vehicle at which time the second suspect came from behind the house armed with a gun and demanded the keys."

The initial police report says the suspects fled in the victim's 2026 black Chevy Trailblazer.

That happened near the corner of Agriculture Street and Edith Weston Place.
