Windy today, storms tonight

Weather
NWS

A strong storm system is sweeping across the U.S. today.

"It will bring strong winds and the threat for thunderstorms to Southeast Louisiana," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. "Your Monday will be windy with wind gusts up to 40 mph at times. The chance for rain during the daytime will stay low around 30%, but increase into the evening and overnight hours."

He says a line of storms will move into the area bringing most people the threat for severe thunderstorms after midnight.

"This includes the risk for strong winds and isolated tornadoes. The risk for strong tornadoes increases as you head inland toward southwest Mississippi. The stormy weather will clear the area by Tuesday morning and leave us with a dry and mostly sunny Tuesday."
