A man is dead after slamming his motorcycle into a light pole on the Earhart Expressway.
"Shortly after 10:00 a.m. this morning, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 3139," Trooper Monroe Dillon said. "The crash involved a motorcycle and claimed the life of 52-year-old Kent Shropshire of River Ridge."
Cops say Shropshire was driving at a high rate of speed.
"For reasons still under investigation, Shropshire lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the road to the right and crashed into a metal light pole. He was ejected from the Ducati and was pronounced deceased on the scene."
Dillon says that while speed is a suspected factor, toxicology test will be performed to determine if Shropshire was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Shropshire was wearing a helmet.
