In Connecticut, an undercover video has surfaced of an assistant principal admitting to discriminating against conservative and Catholic teaching applicants because he wants to advance “subtle” progressive indoctrination in his school.
Jeremy Boland is the administrator in question and works at Cos Cob Elementary school. He was recently caught on camera by an undercover Project Veritas reporter making the claims.
In the video, Boland can be heard saying he oversees the hiring of faculty and specifically rejects those who have beliefs in line with conservatism or Catholicism. But, that’s not all, as he also rejects those who sympathize with parents wanting rights in education or if they are older than 30.
“I’m not a huge expert on religion, but Protestants in this area [of Connecticut] are probably the most liberal. But if they’re Catholic — conservative,” Boland said in the clip.
Boland was asked what he does when he discovers a candidate is Catholic, and he responded by saying, “you don’t hire them.”
When explaining the choice, he said that those “raised hardcore Catholic” are essentially “brainwashed” and unable to change their mindset or outlook on the world. Boland then went on to say that, at the moment, there is a teacher at his school who falls under the parameters he especially does not hire.
When asked about getting rid of the 40-year-old educator, he said it would not happen because it is too difficult to fire a tenured teacher.
“I’ll never be able to fire her, and I’ll never be able to change her,” he said. “So, I make an impact with the next teacher I hire.”
Boland said that the school looks to intentionally shape students’ minds by having teachers share their progressive ideology and praised educators for doing it “without really ever having to mention politics.”
“So, it’s subtle. They will never say, ‘Oh, this is a liberal or a Democratic way of doing this.’ They’ll just make that the norm,” Boland said. “This is how we handle things, it’s subtle…That’s how you get away with it.”
Since the video has been released, Boland and other Cos Cob administrators have been reached out to for comment, but none have responded.
