A bus driver in Kentucky transformed into a young boy's hero, all with a simple pair of pajamas.

Larry Farrish Jr., 35, went above and beyond to help a first grader named Levi on Friday, after he showed up at the bus stop and noticed the smile missing from Levi's face.

"I saw Levi sitting down by himself with his head down, and it dawned on me, something is wrong," Farrish said in a statement released by Jefferson County Public Schools. "He’s always happy, but this particular day, he was not happy."

When Farrish asked Levi what was wrong, the youngster looked up at him with "a face full of tears" and explained he didn't have pajamas for "pajama day" at school.

"It hurt me so bad," Farrish said. "That just wasn't my Levi, and I wanted him to have a good day. No child should have to miss out on something as small as pajama day."

After finishing his route, Farrish stopped at Family Dollar and bought a few pairs of pajamas in different sizes, then returned to Levi's school and asked if they could call him to the office.

"He came around the corner, his face lit up. It was the biggest smile that I recognized every morning. I was like, that's Levi," Farrish told ABC News. "I said, 'Will you try these on when you get back to your classroom and have a good day?' He hugged them and he said 'I have pajamas.'"

Farrish said Levi's happiness moved him to tears.

"I never wanted to see my student hurt because of something so small," Farrish told ABC. "It's the importance of being able to participate."
