All five people on board a medical flight perished Friday when the airplane crashed near Stagecoach, Nev., according to REMSA Health.
“The five people on board were a pilot, a flight nurse, a flight paramedic, a patient and a patient’s family member,” said the company late Friday. “We are in the process of notifying their family members.”
REMSA operates Care Flight, the service headquartered in Reno, Nev., that was transporting the patient and other passengers. They were on a PC 12 fixed wing aircraft with the tail number N273SM.
At around 9:45 p.m. Friday, the aircraft went off radar, said REMSA.
Now the Central Lyon Fire Department and Lyon County Sheriff’s Department are coordinating with the National Transportation Safety Board to investigate what caused the crash. A press release from the sheriff’s office said the aircraft was located around 11:15 p.m. Friday.
Additionally, the sheriff’s office said that the NTSB is expected to issue press releases with updates regarding the crash.
“Our immediate focus is helping our team members and families, as well as the responding agencies,” said REMSA. It also said that, per its safety process, all Car Flights and Guardian Flights (another REMSA service headquartered in Utah) are in a “passive stand down” across the country.
“We will work with each of our operations to ascertain when they are able to return to service,” REMSA said.
