Last year, Americans ate roughly 150 million hot dogs on the Fourth of July, as the food is one of the most popular for backyard barbecues. While many will enjoy one over the holiday weekend, doing something like throwing a hot dog at a police officer is never a good idea.

A Florida man was arrested early on Saturday morning after he hurled a hot dog at a St. Petersburg police officer who warned him he was violating a city ordinance, according to WFLA-TV.

47-year-old Jason Stoll of New Port Richey, Florida was charged with felony battery of a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer without violence, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office's online records.

Stoll was trying to sell hot dogs in the middle of the street at around 12 a.m. Officers warned him multiple times that the street closure permit had ended, and asked him to put the hot dogs away.

He ignored their requests, and continued to try and sell hot dogs before deciding to throw one at a police officer who was in full uniform.

"The defendant became extremely upset and intentionally threw the hot dog at [an officer]," according to police documents, according to WTVT.

Stoll was released after posting $2,500 bail, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office's online records. He faces a minimum of three years in jail if he is convicted.

The online records showed that Stoll has multiple tattoos, including the phrases "hustle eat sleep repeat" and "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger."
