A recent report has found that law enforcement is “nearing its conclusion” of its investigation into the death of Matthew Perry’s ketamine death and that “multiple people” could face charges.

The report comes from PEOPLE, which cited law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation but noted that the U.S. Attorney’s Office will have the final say on whether or not charges are filed.

The death of the former “Friends” star was ruled to be accidental. He passed on Oct. 28 at the age of 54.

A December autopsy cited by PEOPLE showed that Perry had died from acute effects of ketamine, with other contributing factors including drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine effects.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner closed its investigation into his death in December, but the Los Angeles Police Department shared that it then began an investigation into the circumstances of his overdose death, PEOPLE reported.

The department has since been working with the DEA and US Postal Inspector to uncover where the ketamine that played a part in Perry’s death came from.

The investigation remains ongoing at this point.
