If you have been waiting for the okay to go back to drinking your Bud Light - wait no more! Former President Donald Trump has given the sign that it’s okay to drink Bud Light, saying, “Anheuser-Busch is a Great American Brand that perhaps deserves a Second Chance? What do you think?” Trump said that the company that brews Bud Light is “not a Woke company” and should be given a second chance and Americans should go “after those companies that are looking to DESTROY AMERICA!” Trump said he is building a list of companies that are woke and trying to destroy America.
As soon as I heard that Trump was making an effort to promote the drinking of Bud Light again I questioned his motive. Apparently, Donald Trump owns $5 million in Anheuser-Busch Inbev stock and his promotion of Bud Light on the campaign trail might be a violation of ethics. But we know those kinds of rules don’t seem to bother Donald Trump.
In April of last year, Bud Light reached out to a popular social media influencer, Dylan Mulvaney, who is transgender. Social media exploded with immediate and harsh condemnation of Bud Light for asking a transgender person to promote their beer to the trans and LGBTQ community. The criticism was so harsh you would have thought Bud Light reached out to President Biden or Nancy Pelosi.
Rocker Kid Rock became a big part of the initial call for a boycott of Bud Light after Rock posted a video of him shooting up cans of Bud Light. The video went viral and Kid Rock became the face and voice of the boycott. But Kid Rock got busted when posts of him drinking Bud Light at his bar in Nashville also went viral. Kid Rock earned the nickname “Kid Woke!” The anointed leader of the Bud Light boycott was drinking Bud Light and that brought to life the definition of hypocrisy.
Kid Rock was among the first celebrities asking to give Bud Light a second chance.
Considering the god-like respect many Trump followers have for him, I can’t help but think that Trump saying people should give Bud Light a second chance after they made a serious mistake that cost them millions of dollars in sales and falling stock value is going to lead many people to go back to drinking what was their favorite beer. Isn’t that interesting?
Beer drinkers are passionate about their beer and loyal to its taste, but the call for a boycott after Bud Light tried to promote its brand to the trans/LGBTQ community through a trans social media influencer caused millions of Americans to divorce their loyalty to their favorite beer. What has happened to independent thinking? What has happened to Americans being strong enough to make up their own minds? First, they stop drinking their favorite beer and then they start drinking their favorite beer when a former president gives them permission to drink it again.
It will be interesting to see if Bud Light sales improve and if Anheuser-Busch stock value goes up. If those two things become reality then we can confirm that we live among sheeple. If you are tempted to boycott a brand because someone tells you to or if you suddenly start supporting the brand you boycotted because a political leader tells you it’s okay, then I suggest that you are not an independent thinker and you are part of the group prone to follow the leader.
America was started by a group of independent thinkers who had the courage to follow their own beliefs and were not a group of followers waiting to hear the next call to action.
