I think in a lot of ways one can look at education as an assembly line process. It starts with pre-k and runs through at least high school, and all along the way pieces and parts are added. Without ALL of the pieces and parts, the end result won’t perform as it should.
COVID-19 has put a lot of stops, starts and kinks in the educational assembly line. Enrollment is down, primarily in kindergarten, and there is a concern that these “redshirted” kindergarten kids won’t be ready for the next step in the educational assembly process.
Reading scores are of particular concern. We talked about that and more with Louisiana Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley this morning to make sure all of the students in the system are equipped with what they need to continue their matriculation down the "assembly line."
